Joel Soto was born in Havana on the 1st of September 1977.

He started studying classical guitar at the age of 11.

In 1995 he participated at Festival Jazz Plaza de La Habana with

Bobby Carcasses, one of the most important jazz representatives of the island. In 1996 he obtained his diploma of electric bass at National School of Art. That year he went to Italy where he stayed for seven years participating n various festivals like Umbria Jazz, San Remo and latin festivals where he shared the same scene with important figures of latin music like Celia Cruz,Oscar D’ Leon, Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Eddie Palmieri. At the present he lives in Greece, where he’s directing a salsa orchestra playing with musicians of international fame like Alfredo de la Fe, Jimmy Bosch, Orlando Watussi, Luisito Rosario, Larry Harlow,

Mercado Negro Orchestra and singers of the Spanish Harlem

Orchestra -2005 latin Grammy winner- Ray de la Paz, Herman Olivera, Frankie Vazquez, Marco Bermudez. Joel has participated in some greek performances as well.Recently he recorded  the new album of Zoe Tiganouria, greek accordionist. As a composer, his song "La Tengo Amarra" was included in a film soundtrack of Antonis Kafetzopoulos "H gynaika einai poly kakos anthropos" (Woman is a very bad person).

This is Joel's first project recorded at DDE studio's produced by Mike Generale entitled Waking Up.
